Vrishchikasana (Scorpion Pose) - How to Practice and Its Benefits and Precautions, Contraindications.
Vrishchikasana is derived from the Sanskrit words “Vrishchika” which means “Scorpion” and “asana” means “pose”. It is an inverted pose and also an advanced yoga asana. The final pose is similar to that of a Scorpion, ready to strike. You are supposed to do the asana, at the end of the yoga session. To do this asana, you must practice Sirsasana.
How To Do It?
⦁ Begin the pose or asana in kneeling position.
⦁ You have to hold on to the opposite elbows so that your arms are at shoulders’ distance apart.
⦁ The forearms should be parallel to each other, and once you are in a comfortable position, lift your hips and assume the Dolphin position.
⦁ Walk your body, towards your elbows, as close as you can get.
⦁ Slowly, you have to lift your right leg towards the ceiling.
⦁ While exerting your body weight on the ball of your left foot, and begin rocking forward so that you can lift both the legs off the ground.
⦁ Bring the legs and feet together, making sure your toes are pointed outwards.
⦁ Bend your knees slowly, and start moving your toes toward your head, while you stretch your chest forward through your arms.
⦁ Hold this for at least three breaths. You can take the support of a wall until you are comfortable without it.

⦁ If you have high blood pressure or Vertigo, you cannot do this asana.
⦁ If you have Cerebral Thrombosis, then also you should not do this asana.
⦁ Pregnant women must avoid this asana.
⦁ If you have any sort of heart disease, then also you must avoid this asana.
